Charles F. Willard of Chicago filed to organize the Bank of Austin on September 21, 1858 with a capital of $25,000. The bank never opened for business. On March 11, 1859 the auditor authorized Danforth, Perkins & Co. to engrave a 3-5 plate and print 7,000 sheets amounting to $56,000.
