Hennepin County was established on March 6, 1852. It was named for Franciscan missionary Louis Hennepin, who explored the area in the summer of 1680. Hennepin County issued $6,000 of scrip in 1857. No notes are known from this issue. It also issued emergency fractional notes for the small-change crisis in 1862.
