AJ. Meacham and J. A. Bowman purchased the inventory of Charles McGlashan in the fall of 1866 and opened a store at Main and Bush Streets in Red Wing. Their advertisements said they dealt in dry goods, groceries, tobacco and cigars, boots and shoes, and clothing. Mr. Bowman retired in early 1869, and the store name was changed to Meacham and Williamson. Mr. Meacham later took positions with several institutions including Red Wing Stoneware Company, Goodhue County Bank, and he was the first president of North Star Pottery in Red Wing.
